Cabela's to open outlet in Winnipeg, Canada
US-based specialty retailer Cabela's plans to build a new location in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, following the receipt of approval from a city hall committee for site design.
The company plans to put up a 72,000ft² building on a 283,090ft² parcel of land, according to Winnipeg Free Press.
The new retail outlet is to be built west of the site of the new Ikea shop on the southwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.
The Sweden-based home furnishings retailer is also building a 395,000ft² store in Winnipeg, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
Cabela's and Ikea are the first components of the projected 1.5 million ft², $400m Seasons of Tuxedo retail development on both sides of Sterling Lyon Parkway.
The Winnipeg store will feature Cabela's iconic gable roof, dormer windows with wood trusses and stone veneer.
Cabela's plans to hire about 150 persons for a new 50,000ft² store in Saskatoon, which is due to open this Spring. Additionally, the chain is opening a store in Wichita, Kansas, in mid-March.
