Outwrite Bookstore and Coffeehouse closes in Atlanta

RBR Staff Writer Published 27 January 2012

Outwrite Bookstore and Coffeehouse, a bookstore and gathering place for the LGBT community, has shut its doors due to financial reasons. The store is located at 10th Street and Piedmont Road in Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia.

The store owner Philip Rafshoon informed subscribers through email about the closing of shop, as well as posted the news on their Facebook page, according to cbsatlanta.com.

The shop, which opened in 1993, served not only as a bookstore and coffee shop, but as a meeting point for rallys and a place to watch annual Gay Pride Parade from.

Rafshoon said they had hoped to open in another location, but had examined and exhausted all possibilities for continuing this firm given their financial situation.
