Vann's to close retail outlet in Helena, Montana

RBR Staff Writer Published 01 February 2012

Vann's, a US-based specialty retailer of audio, video and appliances, will close its outlet in Helena, Montana on 4 March 2012.

The company expanded into Helena with a store originally located on Cedar Street in 1987. In 2008, the shop moved to its present location on Cromwell-Dixon, displaying the firm's modified retail strategy.

Vann's chief operating officer Rob Standley said this was a very difficult decision for the company to make, but the firm is facing multiple challenges in the Helena market.

"The retail climate right now is definitely an issue. Combined with that, our store model doesn't suit the market.

"Unfortunately, with the economic downturn and the new direction for the in-store experience for shoppers, we didn't see the growth or stability we needed in Helena," Standley said.

The Missoula-based firm is also referring all service needs to current service partners in Helena. The store's inventory liquidation will begin on 9 February.

Vann's consists of six retail stores located in Billings, Bozeman, Flathead Valley, Hamilton, Helena and Missoula, in addition to an e-Commerce website.
